Who would want to be me?
It seems that there has been a rash of card fraud and identity theft here in Oregon. Almost everyone I know has been hit by it in the last two weeks. Some actually had money stolen and some (like me) got a call from the bank stating that they disabled my cards because "they had been compromised," though they would not tell me how they knew this if no charges had been made or even how it could have happened.
So I guess it can happen to anyone even if you are extremely careful about where you use your card and who has access to it. All it takes is a crooked teller putting a logging device inline with the card reader to snatch your numbers and pin. Google for it and you will see what I mean. And that's just what us law-abiding citizens can find.
People, I know times are hard but stealing from your fellow countrymen (and women) is no way to solve your problems. Those people are in just as bad of shape as you, sometimes worse.
So I guess be careful. Trust no one. Never leave the house. Keep all your money under the bed. In fact the only way to be sure is to spend it all on top ramin before anyone else can take it!
