Banks and Debates

Live presidential debates! Oh, gag me. I'm presently watching it on the BBC's website (is there an irony here?). To be more precise, I'm listening to it. Listening to these politicians is doing little to boost my confidence in either candidate. The banks are falling apart. My bank, Washington Mutual was bought out today. What does that mean for me, the little man? Virtually nothing, I suppose. Shall I go pull out the few thousand dollars that can be put to my name? Not yet, no. It seems that such lack of confidence would simply worsen things. And if I'm thinking of doing it, I'm sure at least 2 other people have thought it too. However, a run on the banks didn't prove economically beneficial in the 30s, if my history serves me correctly. What shall we do then? I'm thinking we wait at least until November, when scaring consumers is no longer as politically beneficial as it is this week. (No conspiracies here...yet) As for those old (and young-ish) politicians yakking: when asked about the current situation, both candidates seem irritably evasive. Of course, they always skip right to the "I'll do better" message. Oh posh! I get tired of people who can't answer a straight-forward question with a straight-forward answer (notice I say straight-forward, not simple). I can't put the string of thoughts in my head into writing properly, but are things falling apart? Probably not. It's difficult anymore to discern legitimate reporting from wildly overblown scare-tactics. I'll keep living life as normal, though not with my head in the sand.
